JUSTICE WANDER

Justice Van der Linde is an aspiring fine artist, born in the town of Klerksdorp, South Africa in 1994.  After matriculating from Klerksdorp High in 2012, Justice moved to Potchefstroom where he later obtained a Bachelor of Arts.  Whilst studying at the North West University, Justice became an active member in the local art scene, before moving back to Klerksdorp where he is currently interning at the Klerksdorp Museum whilst working on his career as artist.

Justice’s lifelong fascination with art and artist has honed his desire to become a professional artist himself.  Justice recalls the spark of his keen interest in portraiture when first drawing a classmate, Lexi, in Primary school.  Justice was encouraged to continue drawing and did so, accepting commissions by insistent classmates in exchange for spending money.

Today, Justice primarily works in graphite and charcoal, but is also interested in expanding his experimentation with mixed media.  His inspirations and influences are extensive:  Whilst movements such as 20th century realism, surrealism and postmodern hyperrealism may have directed his technique to some degree, inspirations such as the fantastical characters in contemporary pop-culture, music and personal narrative have contributed to a different aesthetic.  His work is a documentation of personal experience and an address on the contemporary condition.
