"I work in clay, mixed media and mono-printing techniques as these mediums share the properties of direct manipulation yet retain delicacy and provide a dialogue within the idea of suspension, shelter and displacement in relation to the iconic representations of culture.

We influence, beg, borrow, pick and choose that which we fancy in our wealth of choice in the melting pot of influences found in Africa.  We are often defined by what we are not, we are in a manner, a part of a reformation of the definition of identity for that which defines the individual has become about choice, appropriation and interpreted meaning.

I explore the journey of knowledge by depicting scopes of reality in the quiet thoughtful spaces of the mind. My work deals with human presence and experience influenced by ones geographical placement.  The ripple effects of human action and interaction is a great part of my work. I seek to express moments of contact, humans seen as emotional bags walking around and dialogue which desires to be shared." - Jessica Michelle le Roux

Jessica Michelle Le Roux was born in Nylstroom, South Africa.  She is intrigued by the visual dialogue and influence of art within society, which directed her studies.  She obtained her BA in Fine & Applied Arts from Tshwane University of Technology, where she then majored in printing.

Exhibitions in which she has participated in, include those at the Pretoria Art Museum, Trent, Unisa Gallery and the South African Print Fair.  She has been selected in Absa L’Ateliers finalists as well as that of Sasol New Signatures.  Her artwork is included in numerous private art collections as well as Hogan Lovells and ABSA’S corporate collection. She is greatly looking forward to participating in the AVA Collaboration in Association with Nando's Creative Exchange and the South African Print fair among other exhibitions lined up for 2019.
